Learning and Development

At the end of another busy week, I’m taking this opportunity as a time to reflect! The week has been broken up primarily with trying to attend the PSMW live streaming that has been taking place in the Video Conferencing room – thank you to Dafydd for sorting the echo problem out for us! There has been a variety of presentations to take advantage on – focusing mainly on leadership and how to ensure that organisations are effective and efficient in this period of uncertainty and transformation. Through many of the presentations there has been repetition of being aware of values – both individual and organisational and understanding how you face change and tools to assist others through the process of change. I have just come from one presentation which emphasised listening and how crucial that was for effective leadership. The Live Streaming has been useful and is a very effective tool which I am sure will be used more of in the future. Although there will be some feedback, particularly when it came to PowerPoint presentations and workshop activities – it would be good to be able to partake in these from our side of the camera! It will be interesting to hear how the NLW members of staff got on with the week. The presentations will be available for the next 12 months on PSMW’s website.

Next week we have some other members of staff attending another type of Summer School – a week long course for Welsh learners. This is being organised by the Welsh for Adults Centre and Aberystwyth University and should be a good opportunity for those learners to have an opportunity to immerse themselves and hopefully come back with the knowledge, confidence and motivation to continue to learn and use Welsh within their work and home environment.

Otherwise it has been a week of marking ILM assignments, preparing for next weeks ILM and Coaching course. Also we are looking to take the next steps with regards to the Competency Framework building upon comments from our pilot scheme. So next week seems already busy……..
