Friday afternoon in Pen Dinas

‘Smile it’s Friday’ is an event we organise on the last Friday of every month at Pen Dinas.

This month 40 pupils from Aberaeron Primary School came to entertain us. They displayed a great overall programme, which included of singing, dancing and instrumental performances. Their voices and enthusiasm filled the room. Staff along with a number of readers enjoyed their afternoon tea break and parents also came up to support. For many of the pupils and parents it was their first visit to the National Library.

The children arrived at 1:30pm and were given an insight to how the Library works in a ‘behind the scenes’ tour! To relax before their performance they were given squash and biscuits and some time-out in the Education Room. At 3pm they were set to go and the entertainment started.

It was great to give the children an insight in to Library and also the opportunity to perform here. It was obvious that pupils and teachers had worked hard at putting a programme together. We were given a true example of their talents.

We are now preparing for next month’s event, which is a story telling session and a special visit from Sali Mali. We are hoping to target an even younger generation, the Libraries future readers!
