It’s been a few months since I last wrote this blog, and I would like to update you on the digitisation side of the project.
By now, all works on paper by Kyffin Williams have been digitised and I am currently creating appropriate metadata so that we can show these images online. This includes linking each digital image to it’s catalogue record. This is a long process, as there are 1498 individual images within the works on paper, and 34 sketchbooks, with a total of 441 images, and all these need to be linked individually!
The two images I have decided to include in the blog are from the same sketchbook and I believe they are a great example of Kyffin Williams’ humour. The sketchbook is named “Kyffin’s Fighting Cavalry”.
The digitisation process is continuing, with numerous items in the middle of the process, like his oil paintings and his framed works. Also, numerous slides including images from his tour in Patagonia in 1968 (see , after winning the Winston Churchill Fellowship to record the Welsh community there.
