Mavron Quartet at the Library

On Wednesday evening, 24 October, the Library’s Council Chamber became the venue for a concert by the acclaimed and talented Mavron Quartet.  This year, the quartet celebrates its tenth anniversary with a series of concerts around Wales, and the Library was fortunate enough to be chosen as one of their locations.

The Council Chamber was a very apt venue, as it classical ambiance complimented the musical virtuosity of these four very talented musicians.

Their thoroughly varied programme, from traditional works by Haydn, Bach and Schubert was complimented by contemporary commissioned work by Welsh composer Gareth Wood, much to the pleasure, rapturous applause and encore given by the numerous concert goers.

It was indeed a privilege to be present at this thoroughly entertaining evening, and the comments received by the audience were very encouraging. Without doubt, this will be the first of many similar concerts to be held in the Library’s Council Chamber.

As one happy audience member was heard to say “an awesome foursome.”

The evening was sponsored by a wine reception given by Nantoes Mansion.
