- Gwent Record Office offers a photocopying service. Photocopies, and prints from microfilm/fiche can be supplied. Other services: laser copies (colour/black & white); copies of large maps and documents.
- 3 microfilm readers, 1 large microfilm reader for newspapers, and 6 microfiche readers available for public use. There is also a staff-operated reader-printer.
- Reservation of seats is advisable, especially for use of microfilm/fiche readers.
- It is possible to reserve a document in advance if a full document reference is given (maximum of 3 items per person).

There are many published materials for sale by the Gwent Record Office and a comprehensive list is available. These can be bought at the Record Office or by post and they include:
- Guides
- Lists
- Posters
- Facsimiles of Maps
- Other Publications
- Ample parking spaces.
- Twelve seats available for researchers and ten for microfilm/fiche readers.
- Public conveniences are available on site.
- A restaurant, open from 1200 to 1400; a sandwich/snack shop open from 0900 to1500 and drink vending machines.
- Publications are sold at Gwent Record Office.
- Some resources (census indexes etc.) are now available for use on CD-ROM
Records relating to the geographic area of the former historic
county of Monmouth and the former county of Gwent, including
local government archives; public and official archives
(courts of law, hospitals, etc.); private archives including
those of families, estates, industry, and trade; and archives
of ecclesiastical parishes in the diocese of Monmouth.
A reader's ticket (County Archive Research Network) is
required for access to original material.
The usual local authority record office rules apply: no bags, food, drink, smoking, pens etc.
The Gwent Record Office was established in 1938 under the title of the Monmouthshire Record Office.
