The National Library of Wales will again throw open its doors on Saturday 24th January as we host our annual Open Day. Past open days, which include numerous events such as talks, presentations, behind the scenes tours and gallery talks, have proven popular - and this year’s event will not be an exception.
Numerous events have been arranged throughout the day, with events for adults and younger visitors. Events include behind the scenes guided tours of the Library’s specialist departments. The tours will look at the Library’s Conservation Unit, which works to ensure that the Library’s collections are kept in the best conditions, and The National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales, who holds over 9 million feet of film including the oldest film shot in Wales.
In addition a series of lectures and presentations will be held which include:
Additional events held during the day will include a Conservation Workshop – the perfect opportunity to see and discuss conservation issues with a member of the Library’s Conservation staff. Demonstrations at the Library’s Shop include the work of Strata Stained Glass Studio – experts in the art of stained glass and Gwynedd Confectioners - a must for all chocoholics!
All these events are free of charge but space is limited, book early to secure a place www.llgc.org.uk/drwm 01970 632 548
