The Library has recently unveiled the design of a new label, printed especially by the Gregynog Press, for the Sir Kyffin Williams bequest.
The Bequest of Sir Kyffin Williams is one of the great modern acquisitions of the National Library. According to Dr Paul Joyner, the Library’s Head of Archive and Art Acquisitions “The objects bequeathed by Sir Kyffin are of national importance and many will no doubt be borrowed far and wide- already a significant number have been lent to Oriel Kyffin Williams, Llangefni for the opening exhibition of his Gallery.”
The labels have been especially designed by Sir Kyffin’s own printer: David Vickers of the Gwasg Gregynog Press, printed on the Gregynog Press, to the excellent standards which Kyffin so admired. They are printed in grey, ‘Kyffin grey’ which Kyffin himself chose for the Kate Roberts book 'Two Old Men'.
Each object in the bequest will bear the label, so that it will be possible to tell instantly which pictures formed part of his gift to the nation.
On the 23rd of January 2009, David Vickers visited the Library to present the labels to the Library board.
The Library’s new patron’s wing Penodau has kindly paid for the labels.
