
The National Library of Wales’ status as a legal deposit library ensures comprehensive coverage of official publications from the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. The collection includes print publications of the National Assembly for Wales, Northern Ireland Assembly, the United Kingdom Parliament, Scottish Parliament, and both Houses of the Oireachtas, together with the publications of the United Kingdom government, the Irish government, the Welsh Assembly Government, the Scottish Government, and the Northern Ireland Executive.
The wide variety of UK official publications includes Primary Legislation and Statutory Instruments, Parliamentary Hansard, House of Commons Command Papers and reports along with the publications of Central Government Departments. Similar Irish and Scottish and Northern Irish publications are also held.
Welsh Official Publications in the collection include Assembly Measures, National Assembly Committee reports, together with Welsh Assembly Government publications including Welsh Statutory instruments, Education & Healthcare Standards reports, statistical bulletins, periodicals and consultation documents.

The Library also acts as a partial depository library for a number of international organisations and the collection contains monographs, periodicals, papers, statistics, policy documents and magazines from these agencies. The depositing organisations include the United Nations, Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the International Atomic Energy Agency, International Monetary Fund, International Maritime Organisation, International Labour Organisation and the Council of Europe.
While most monograph and periodical publications are available on the online catalogue, certain papers are not indexed.
