To make the best use of your time at the Library, try to assemble as much information as possible before your visit.
- Note dates of events concerning your family starting with yourself and siblings and work back through parents and grandparents as far back as you can.
- Ask elderly relatives about their recollections and reminiscences, making notes whenever possible or take recordings.
- Search for any family records and memorabilia by asking relatives and searching in attics.
If you are a beginner, you would be well advised to read a good general guide to genealogy of which there are several on the market. See Further Reading.
