Searchers may benefit from joining a family history society for the area of their interest. Details of existing societies may be obtained from the Federation of Family History Societies, which also has a series of very helpful booklets on all kinds of genealogical subjects.

The Association of Family History Societies of Wales acts as a co-ordinating body to promote and foster the study of family history in Wales.

The Society of Genealogists, 14 Charterhouse Buildings, London EC1M 7BA, is another organisation which publishes pamphlets and books of interest to genealogists and has a very valuable library of genealogical material.

The journals of Welsh family history societies are available on the open shelves in the South Reading Room.
