Saturday           9:30 - 17:00

 

The Library has re-opened on Saturdays.

 

 

The South Reading Room is used by readers wishing to consult:

• Manuscripts
• Archives
• Maps
• Pictures
• Photographs
• Microforms

 

 

Facilities

 

The South Reading Room has 30 computer stations placed throughout the Reading Room along with 17 microfiche readers and 18 microfilm readers.

 

Other facilities include:

• microfilm reader with printer
• OS Digital
• slide-viewer
• ultraviolet light
• Smartview and AverVision machines for magnification of manuscripts 
  
• textScannaR machine which reads text aloud 
• Supernova facilities which magnify and read text aloud

Access

 

Access to the Reading Room is by Reader's Ticket only.

Ordering and reserving material

 

You can order material prior to your visit through our online catalogue if you hold a valid reader’s ticket. If you have any difficulty please contact the enquiries team.
