Confirmation of gift of lands to the abbey of Strata Marcella (Ystrad Marchell) by Gwenwynwyn son of Owain Cyfeiliog.
Because nothing opposes forgetfulness and false-claim more effectively than writing and no circumstance should be allowed to impede the practise of holiness, he has decided that in order to perpetuate the remembrance of his gift and almoign the terms thereof ought to be recorded in writing. The terms therof are: Guenoingven son of Owin of Keueiliauc, moved by divine inspiration, on behalf of his and his parents' souls, has given to God and the abbey of Estrat marchell to be held for ever to the use of the monks (the land of) Dengwm from its head to its mouth, Nantmeichat likewise from its source to Moch raiader, Negued uenedauc and Pennanbacho, Botreiswal, Pennan iegueinc with all the fields and hills and the woods on the hills. To prevent the possibility of any false-claim arising in the future, he has confirmed his gift and eleemosinage by the signatures of witnesses and with the protection of his seal.
