Siarter Ystrad Marchell rhif 58 / Ystrad Marchell charter no. 58
Confirmation by Llywelyn ab Iorwerth, of lands given to the abbey of Strata Marcella (Ystrad Marchell) by Madog ap Gruffudd Maelor (see charter 52).
Lewelin, prince of Noruualle, moved by piety and in the hope of eternal retirbution, for the salvation of his soul and those of his parents, has given to God, the Blessed Mary and the monks of Stratmarchel the land called Banadellaucluidion in pure and everlasting possession, free and quit and not subject to any secular exaction, custom or disturbance, so that the said monks might possess the aforesaid lands with all its bounds and appurtenances, in all its uses and usages without any counter-claim, firmly, well and peacefully, with everlasting right, so that no-one, be he layman or ecclesiastic, might have in it any right or proprietorial use or any right to use it except the venerable monks of Stradmarchel, dear to him, to whom out of afectionate charity and as a complete gift he has voluntary granted and most firmly given the aforesaid parcel of land, namely, Banelauc luidion in all its bounds. But because the present age is prone to evil and seeks to extort gain for itself thereby, he has strengthened and confirmed that his gift both with the proper impression of his seal and by the attestation of good and faithful men.
