Confirmation of the gift of right in lands (listed below) by Dafydd ab Owain Brithdir, to the abbey of Strata Marcella (Ystrad Marchell).
Dauid son of Owyn of Bridtyr has given and by this his charter confirmed to God, the Blessed Mary and the monks of Stratmarcell, for the salvation of his soul and those of his parents, all lands with their appurtenances, all gifts and liberties which all his other heirs and ancestors of Arustili has sold or given to the said monks, namely, Pennantbacho, Defrenmerthyr, Peruetminit, Cumlluit, Cumbuga to Ridpenhoch with all their bounds; similarly, he has given into the possession of the said monks all the land which they held of Deupiu and of Scoraur, a half of all the land from Arannell to Ridywoch, Aberbredwen, and Ryucanesseit, freely and quietly, well and in peace, and without any exaction or secular custom, with everlasting right, in wood, in plain, in waters, in ways, in meadows, in pastures, in mills, and in all their uses and usages, and bounds and appurtenances, so that no other monks might have any proprietorship, use, or pastures in the same region from the River Hawren towards Powis. He has confirmed it by oath in the presence of subscribed witnesses so that neither he nor any of those who serve him will do it injury or damage, or permit it to be done. He will not accept their goods from any one against their will; indeed, he will not allow those who receive them into his society and he will compel those who injure them to make restitution as far as possible.
