Confirmation of the gift of right in lands by Madoc ab Owain Brithdir, to the abbey of Strata Marcella (Ystrad Marchell).
Madoc son of Owin of Briddir has given and by his present charter confirmed to God and the Blessed Mary and the monks of Stratmarchell, in pure and everlasting alms, and free and quit from all exaction and custom and secular service, all lands and pastures which they possess and hold through the donation of his brothers and co-heirs and ancestors, so that no other monks might have proprietorship or use or pastures in the same region from the River Severn ('Sabrina') towards Powis. These are the names of the lands which the afore-mentioned monks possess in special and everlasting possession from him and his ancestors, by right and justice, namely, Defren merthir, Cum buga, Cum luit, and thence to Keuelioc, and a half of Deupiu and a half of Scoruaur and a half of Aberbredwen and a half of all the land from Aranell to Rit euoch, and Riu kanesseit, with all their bounds and appurtenances, in wood and in plain, in meadows and pastures and mills and in all uses and usages, well and in peace, fully entirely and honourably.
