Siarter Ystrad Marchell rhif 68 / Ystrad Marchell charter no. 68
Confirmation of grants of lands given to Strata Marcella (Ystrad Marchell) abbey by Gwenwynwyn ab Owain Cyfeiliog in Cyfeiliog by Gruffudd ap Llywelyn.
Griffudd son of Lewelin, prince of Norwallie, has granted, given and confirmed to God, the Blessed Mary and the monks of Stratmarchell, for the salvation of his soul, in pure and perpetual alms, freely and quietly, without any reclamation and exaction or similar custom, all the land called Hawoth Owen with all its bounds and appurtenances, namely, from the Black Dyke in a straight line to Evernow, and from thence to Nant ereyre, by that stream to its source, from there to Bon emaynmelin, then directly to Rithewohc, from there by the top of the mountain to Nanhanauc, then from its source where it rises beneath the willows to its mouth, namely, Puhlledan; on the other side, towards the river called Yhaen from the said Black Dyke by circuit to the stream called Hurht, and from Hurht to Yhaen. In addition, he has granted to them common of pastures throughout all the land which is between Hawoht Oweyn and Riw mayn guin in breadth, and in length to Derwen. He has also given the lands called Pennant yeweinc and Cum kalaht as the charters of lord Wenunwen better testify, that land which lies below the stream called Nantu to its source, then over the top of the mountain to Carnehtwen. He has likewise given these lands, namely, Ros Ekarrec with all its bounds and appurtenances, and Pennant kenhlling within these bounds, namely, from the source of the stream called Nant eskoleyv along its course to Dulas, Dulas to Aber Dengi, the Dengi again upwards to its source, similarly, the land which lies between Dulas and Nant eskolev, as that charter which the monks have between them and the heirs of the said land better testifies. He has also given to them Keuenchoch with its bounds and appurtenances. In the same way, he has given the aforesaid monks all the land which lies between the Corfh and the Enniaun, so that no other monks might have any right or commonage or proprietorship in it except the monks of Stratmarchell. He has given to them all the said bounds and gifts which pertain to Keveyliavc, as the charters of Wenunwin better testify, to be possessed fully and honourably and in all peace. He has also given to them Edugeoht with all its bounds and appurtenances towards Keueyliuc to be possessed freely and quietly for ever as well and as freely as they held them in the time of lord Wenunwin.
