Guided Tours and Group Visits

Guided tours of The National Library of Wales are offered on:

  • Mondays at 11:00 
  • Wednesdays at 14:15

Any changes to tour days or times can be found on the Library's website, in the local press and on posters around the building.

How to join a tour

Tours start from the Shop on the ground floor (Level -1), next to Reception.

You will need to reserve tickets in advance. You can do this:

  • on our What's on page
  • by phoning 01970 632 548
  • by visiting the Library Shop

The tours last approximately an hour and a half and give an introduction to:

  • Library's history
  • its collections  
  • its building

Group Visits

The National Library of Wales welcomes groups of all kinds to visit and to use our varied services.  

We kindly ask groups to inform us of their visit beforehand. Many of our organised visits are by:

  • local history societies
  • family history societies
  • schools
  • voluntary groups
  • clubs and associations


Adults: £5.00
Adults 60+: £4.00
Student: £4.00
Registered Unemployed: £4.00
Under 18: £4.00
Friends of the NLW & Chapters members: Free

Family ticket (2 adults & 2 children): £15.00

All areas visited during the tour are accessible to wheelchair users. Elevators may be used to reach the Library's 3 floors. The tour does involve walking around the building and standing for periods of time.

Please advise us of any specific requirements you may have which could affect your enjoyment of the tour.
